Community Outreach

Community outreach is a fundamental ministry of our Parish.

Whether is is working with the ANKORS and their Winter Emergency Bed Program, Nelson CARES, the Nelson Committee on Homelessness and Street Outreach. Or the Nelson Interfaith Collaborative and KAIROS.  The St. Saviour's Legacy Fund is accepting grant applications for projects beyond St. Saviour’s congregation, within the Kokanee Parish area, that improve health, well-being, and the environment in the wider community of Nelson including Nelson, Kaslo and Balfour. Please read more below...

All of these speak to our commitment to helping our greater community.

Volunteers Needed - Sunday Meal Promo (4.25 x 5.5 in) copy.jpg

The Sunday Meal Program

The Community Sunday Meal program is filling a critical food security gap for the city’s most vulnerable residents— thanks to our generous sponsors; Osprey Foundation, the Anglican Foundation of Canada (AFC) and individual donors.

The Sunday Community Meal Project offers hot, nutritious food to people who often have no access to prepared meals on weekends. Nelson, like many cities in British Columbia, is experiencing a growing crisis in housing and homelessness. For those living outdoors or without kitchen facilities, food bank staples are not enough.

Volunteers are needed as our numbers grow.  We need volunteers for food preparation, serving and cleanup. Cooks are welcome to prepare food on a Saturday or serve food at the meal on a Sunday.  Please email the office if you would like to help at: kokaneeanglicans@gmail.com

St. Saviour's Food Pantry

For over 25 years, the St. Saviour’s Food Pantry has assisted hungry people in the Nelson community. This 100% volunteer service opened February 18, 2000. Eight people were served on that day. Last year we served over 2600. The need grows every month.

The Food Pantry is open every Friday, including holidays, from 9:00am to 11:00am, in the basement of the St. Saviour’s Anglican Church 701 Ward Street at Silica. Come and see us!  All are welcome. For further information, email the church office at kokaneeanglicans@gmail.com.
We have a few garden boxes and grow some produce.

We accept donations!
Donations are gratefully accepted and tax receipts are available if you request them (receipts are issued every February). Please include a note you want it to go to the "Food Pantry" either by e-Transfer to:
kokaneetreasurer@gmail.com, or online here at CanadaHelps.
We are so grateful for every and all contributions.
It takes a village!
